The Comoran Strike Books and TV Series.
The Cormoran Strike novels by Robert Galbraith are classic crime whodunits with a modern twist that follow Cormoran Strike as he solves brutal crimes alongside business partner Robin Ellacott. Our brief was to rebuild the website making it more accessible and bringing it’s visitors closer to the stories and characters by providing exclusive content, news and interactive games.
STRATEGY
Strike fans are deeply engaged with both the novels and the BBC television adaptations. They care about plot developments, characters, locations, behind-the-scenes insights and community activities. Prior to redesign, much of this engagement was dispersed across social feeds, forums and external fan sites. Our opportunity was to refocus this passion back into the official brand experience, creating a digital hub that would deepen engagement, extend session durations and support long-term fan-base growth.
DESIGN
EXTEND
The platform was designed to support both discovery and deep dive exploration and built to guide users through multiple layers of content:
Latest News & Features: Timely updates on books, series developments and author Q&As.
Book Catalogue & Series Guide: Easily browse titles, plot synopses and character links.
TV Series & Media: Trailers and official content from the screen adaptations.
Interactive Elements: Maps of Strike locations, word searches, quizzes and puzzles deepen engagement beyond static reading.

SUBSCRIBERS
The design style of Robert Galbraith is cinematic and rooted in contemporary crime noire. A dark, tonal palette establishes the mood immediately and echoes the psychological depth of the Cormoran Strike series. Imagery is used sparingly but impactfully, often framed to feel investigative or urban and to reinforcing the narrative setting. The grid is structured and deliberate, allowing long-form content, news and interactive features to sit within a controlled system. Subtle motion and transitions add immersion without tipping into gimmickry.
Business Challenge
The site needed to serve a global audience of fans for the Cormoran Strike series — a bestselling crime fiction franchise — while promoting new releases, delivering timely news, and deepening engagement beyond basic book listings. The existing presence lacked cohesion, dynamic content, and an intuitive way for fans to connect with the stories and each other.
Brand Misalignment
While the novels carry strong identity and narrative appeal, the previous website failed to reflect the tone and universe of the series. The design and messaging did not fully capture the gritty, character-driven storytelling that defines Robert Galbraith’s work, limiting audience immersion.
Audience Gap
Fans visited the site primarily for static information, but there were few interactive points that encouraged repeat visits, newsletter signups, or community involvement. Global fans had limited ways to engage beyond reading the books, leaving a gap between passive readership and active engagement.
Strategic Repositioning
We repositioned the site as a destination that celebrates and extends the Strike universe. This included prioritising engaging content formats, clear pathways to community-building features, interactive elements, and a structure that supported fan discovery and loyalty.
Digital Rebuild
The redesigned site now features intuitive navigation, accessibility-focused layouts, and rich content sections including news, exclusive features, and interactive puzzles and games related to the series. Key calls-to-action, such as newsletter signup and social integration, were foregrounded to turn visitors into recurring participants.
Measurable Impact
The rebuild successfully transformed the website into a strategic hub for fans, improving engagement, loyalty, and brand alignment while delivering measurable business results.
